Current Research Title: The Hispasian Students of UNM: Academic Experiences of Mixed Race Hispanic and Asian American Undergraduates.

Current Research: My main research project looks at the educational experiences of mixed race Hispanic and Asian American students. Other research interests of mine include the use of critical pedagogies in curriculum writing and the educational legacy of Rudolfo Anaya.

How, why, when I got involved: I got involved in undergraduate research during my sophomore year through the El Puente research fellowship. Although I was apprehensive to apply due to my lack of prior research experience, I knew I had questions that I wanted to answer! El Puente supported me in finding a faculty mentor, creating a research question, and writing an annotated bibliography and literature review.

Piece of advice: One piece of advice I have to students thinking of getting involved in research is to use your positionality in the university to investigate and better understand what affects you and your community. Knowledge is power and you have the resources at UNM to gain and share this knowledge!
